With the school year coming to a close, the various ministries that run during the school year, also came to a close, taking a break for the Summer.
The Sunday morning services have been focussed on the seven ‘I AM’ statements of Christ in the book of John, learning about who Jesus is, in relation to us.
The main focus of our Sunday evening meetings this month has been on evangelism. Each weekend we’ve had a special event. At the beginning of the month we had, Alan Rigby, sharing his story of how God turned around his life, from criminal to Christian. The following week one of our young adults, Esther Scrimshaw did an outstanding concert called ‘Glow’, with our youth and children taking part. The following week, Isaac Asplin, shared a powerful message about being able to do more than you can think or imagine through Christ.
On the fourth weekend of the month we partnered with Cedric and Jean Barber’s ministry, Unite. On the Saturday we went out onto the streets with Unite to speak to people about Jesus, pray with them and invite them to a BBQ in the afternoon. The BBQ was followed by a Unite service in the evening, which saw the church absolutely packed to the rafters. Martin Thompson was the special guest speaker, and along with his wife Claire, brought a powerful message, and prayed for healing of individuals at the end. A number of people experienced healing. One woman in particular was healed of a very painful condition she’d had for five years, every single day she was in pain, but from the moment she was prayed for she has been pain free.
The following Sunday evening, Martin and Claire Thompson brought a very challenging word, encouraging us all to let go of things in our life, and give God control, many came forward in response to the message.
The month ended with a concert by Pastor Liz Holdcroft on the theme of Identity. Through music, and her own personal story, she spoke of how it is only through knowing Christ that we can really know who we are.
Our youth have also had a fun-packed month. At the beginning of the month they had a special meeting called ‘Ignite’ which they invite a number of youth groups from the local area to. This time they had the meeting outside and had a BBQ. Then at the end of the month the whole youth group went off to a youth camp called ‘Soul Survivor’.
All-in-all it’s been a packed month with some amazing events.
